NOVA Arts is a gifted and talented program for Secondary students at Citipointe who exhibit exceptional talent in the Arts. The tale of聽Romeo and Juliet聽is one of the most iconic love stories and it is one of the most devastating of family feuds. NOVA鈥檚 reimaging of Shakespeare鈥檚 well-known tragedy聽Romeo and Juliet聽finds itself anchored in the world of 90s gang culture. It is where misguided loyalty leads to tragic consequences.
This play explores the timeless themes of generational divides and tensions between parents and children. It tackles the blinding power of young love and family feuds. Competing against the backdrop of the Montague and Capulet鈥檚 compounding conflict, Romeo and Juliet expose the desperate need to think critically about the impact of generational choices.
The production features dynamic stage combat that sensitively underscores the tension in Shakespeare鈥檚 most notable tragedy. Our NOVA students, in collaboration with industry professionals, deliver an interpretation that is vibrant and thought-provoking.
